VERKLIGHETEN showcases unexpected visual art, provides space for imaginative discussions, and pushes the boundaries between art and reality. We mix established and emerging artists, local and international influences, and various art forms together. VERKLIGHETEN is located at Pilgatan 16, East of the city center in Umeå. The building was formerly a railbus factory and is one of the few remaining industrial structures in Umeå's city center. The venue consists of two exhibition spaces of approximately 25 m² each, an office on the upper floor, and since 2007, a larger outbuilding of about 100 m². VERKLIGHETEN is run by: Sebastian Adolfsson, Maria Olsson, Fanny Carinasdotter, Ida Hansson, Gerd Aurell, Sandra Wasara-Hammare, Helena Wikström, Mattias Olofsson, and Maral Mavizi. VERKLIGHETEN operates with support from the Swedish Arts Council, Umeå Municipality, and Region Västerbotten.
